With reference to your letter of the 25th June last, expressing your desire to be relieved from the duties of Major Commanding the Infantry and those of Major of Brigade, I am directed by His Excellency the Lieut. Governor to reply that although he regrets that the service will lose the advantage of your experience in those capacities, His Excellency has no alternative but to accept your resignation.
His Excellency has been unable earlier to reply to your letter in consequence of the difficulty in making the necessary arrangements to supply your place, but he trusts the little delay has
